For the past few weeks we've been hard at work on a new project, and we're finally ready to share a preview.
OpenPixels are pixel art NFTs living fully on-chain.
We've created a brand new pixel art editor for designing them. The editor provides a wide variety of templates to start from, while also giving you complete control over each pixel so you can get creative. 🎨
Our templates are designed to be profile pictures. We took inspiration from popular pixel art projects like CryptoPunks, Nouns, CrypToadz, and others — but we also made sure our templates all feel fresh and unique. There are many templates that aren't characters at all, and if you don't find something you like, you can make something entirely new from scratch!
Here's a quick demo video so you can see it in action:
OpenPixels are designed to be composable with other projects 🏗. To start, we'll be releasing an initial collection of OpenPixels that build on top of OpenPalette. If you own a palette, you can use it to mint an OpenPixel with that palette's colors. Each palette can only be used once, to ensure that each OpenPixel is unique. Since there are 10,000 palettes available, this means there will be 10,000 possible OpenPixels.
OpenPixels have pixel dimensions of 32-by-32, the same size as Nouns and other pixel art projects, to improve composability and allow remixing in fun and interesting ways.
OpenPixel artwork is licensed CC0 — this open license means that any other project can use OpenPixels however they like with no permission needed 🤝

Our plans may evolve as the project grows and we adapt to your feedback!
OpenPixel is just about ready, and we couldn't be more excited to share this project with the world. We hope you have as much fun using it as we had building it! 😁
